There should be tennis in Ukraine. The Elina Svitolina Foundation is launching an annual series of children’s tournaments.
Considering the difficulties in training young tennis players, their participation in competitions during the war, and the difficult economic situation, the Elina Svitolina Foundation, with the support of Nova Poshta and with Ukrainian tennis players Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovskyi, announces the launch of an annual series of tournaments for Ukrainian tennis players under the age of 14 – Svitolina & Stakhovskyi Tennis Tour by Nova Poshta.
This initiative is intended to support talented athletes, ensure a better future for Ukrainian tennis and draw attention to the problems in sports in general and tennis in particular.
“Children are our future. In this difficult time, we must support young athletes and create conditions to motivate them to continue their tennis careers. That is why we decided to establish a series of tennis tournaments and join the efforts of my foundation and Nova Poshta – a leader in Ukrainian business demonstrating high social responsibility. Our goal is to create a favourable environment in Ukraine for the formation of high-class athletes, to support and inspire talented young people,” emphasizes Elina Svitolina.
Serhiy Stakhovskyi, a Ukrainian tennis player and member of the Ukrainian Defence Forces who has participated in the foundation’s initiatives for several years, adds: “I’m happy that we were able to join forces and establish a project focused on preserving Ukrainian sport. The sporting achievements of Ukrainians are our DNA, which is why Ukrainians are known worldwide. That is why it is so important to ensure that a new generation of athletes grows up in the country, even during the war.”
“Nova Poshta is always with those ready to take responsibility for creating prospects and supporting others. Today, the country is fighting the enemy at the front, but we must do everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian children can develop and see their future in Ukraine. We are inspired by Ukrainian sports stars working to create opportunities for Ukrainian children at the most difficult time in the country. Moreover, when we are inspired, we support. Because together we will win,” said Vyacheslav Klymov, co-owner of Nova Poshta.
The format of the Svitolina & Stakhovskyi Tennis Tour by Nova Poshta includes four qualifying tournaments and the final tournament, the Finals. Based on the results of the qualifying competitions, the top eight boys and girls will be able to participate in the final competition, where the winners will be determined and will receive a $20,000 grant (this amount will be distributed among the participants), further support from the Elina Svitolina Foundation and mentoring from the best tennis players in Ukraine – Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovskyi.
The first tournament will take place from July 31 to August 5 at the Campa tennis centre in Bucha, a town known worldwide for its horrific war crimes committed by the Russian army.
The venue was not chosen by chance: we want to demonstrate that Ukrainians know how to fight and that difficulties and pain do not stop them but make them even more powerful. So they will win!
Registration, rules, and regulations of the tournament are at the link.
The partners of the Svitolina & Stakhovskyi Tennis Tour by Nova Post are Wilson, Morshynska, and SEVENTY TWO sports groups.
