Mission: to return children to childhood

The annual Elina Svitolina Foundation event ES Tennis Camp lasted for 10 days, from September 16 to 26. This year's sports training camp for gifted athletes under 12 was held for the fourth time, but for the first time it was an offsite event.

Elina Svitolina commented on this year's event as follows: "From the very beginning, the idea of the camp was to give gifted children the opportunity to improve their skills under the guidance of highly qualified professionals. This year we had another goal - to bring children back to childhood, to distract them from the war. I am happy to see the smiles on their faces - it means we succeeded!"

Shortly after the start of the large-scale invasion, the foundation launched the Tennis for Refugees program to help young tennis players who were forced to leave their hometowns and lost the opportunity to train. But, according to Anna Popovchenko, the foundation's director, it was important for the team not to abandon the traditional event, not to let the war ruin their plans and deprive talented children of the opportunity to develop and realize their potential.

The ES Tennis Camp 2022, which took place in the Bulgarian city of Sozopol, was attended by nine Ukrainian boys and girls who are ranked by the Ukrainian Tennis Federation. They were joined by four peers from Bulgaria. Accommodation, meals and training were free of charge for all participants, as usual.
