The fifth jubilee: the annual Elina Svitolina Tennis Camp will be held in September
Twenty talented tennis players under the age of 12 will spend ten days, from September 17 to 27 this year, in the Polish town of Leszno, at the Hala Tenisowa Akwawit Leszno tennis center. Elina Svitolina Tennis Camp is a training camp that traditionally invites gifted athletes who are included in the ranking of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation.
These camps have been organized by the Elina Svitolina Foundation since its establishment. The age of 11-12 is an extremely important period for a tennis player, when the future athlete is being formed. That is why the tradition of camps for the most perspective boys and girls was started, where they can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of professional tennis and improve their skills under the guidance of highly qualified coaches.
This year’s head coach of the camp will be Mykhailo Filima, Honored Coach of Ukraine, Master of Sports of International Class, head coach of the Ukrainian national tennis team.
“The fifth ES Tennis Camp is not just the first anniversary,” says Elina Svitolina, “For the second year in a row we have been organizing this event in the midst of a full-scale war in Ukraine. So for the second year in a row, for security reasons, we have to hold the camp outside of Ukraine. It is extremely important for us not to let this tradition be interrupted. Even though the normal, calm, safe life of Ukrainians has been interrupted, it has ceased to be so for children as well. Many of them lost the opportunity to train as usual, changed their place of residence… We want to support young athletes and inspire them for future victories.”
The camp program is planned in such a way that it combines general physical training, game tennis and technical tennis training with a basket, tactics classes, recovery training – breathing exercises and stretching – as well as consultations with a psychologist. As usual, accommodation, meals and training will be free of charge for the participants.
“The Foundation works constantly and smoothly,” comments Anna Popovchenko, Director of the Elina Svitolina Foundation, “We want to be stronger than the circumstances. Taking into account the participants of this year’s camp, a total of one hundred children were involved in this particular program. These are one hundred talented tennis players who have improved their skills and gained invaluable experience. We are grateful to their parents for their trust, we are grateful to the coaches and, of course, we express our sincere gratitude to the partners who support the foundation.”
This year’s partners of the camp are Wilson, Adidas, and Setanta Sport.
