Elina Svitolina Foundation continues to promote children’s tennis in Ukraine

The Ukraine No.1 Elina Svitolina continues to support talented children. She gathered a team of the best Ukrainian coaches and masters of sports of the international class. And also, Elina invited the famous Slovak coach Vladimir Platenik to work in the “ES Tennis Camp” for young players.

Sports achievements positively impact the country’s reputation, so it is vital to support youth sports, look for new talents, and help them. This is precisely what the Elina Svitolina Charitable Foundation does, working on its program in Ukraine for the third year running.

This year the event was held from September 27 to October 2 at the Elite Tennis Club at the Black Sea, where Elina herself trained until the age of 12; for participation were selected 10 boys and 10 girls under the age of 12. Of these, 8 boys and 8 girls are in the highest-ranking of the Tennis Federation of Ukraine; the remaining participants are the holders of unique “wild card” invitations from the Foundation.

The program was quite intense and included general physical training, game and technical training in tennis with a basket, lessons on tactics, classes with a psychologist, and remedial training (breathing exercises and stretching). Furthermore, the Foundation awarded Yaroslav Tkachev and Anna-Adelina Nikiforuk, the two strongest athletes, a trip to the French Touch Academy, located in the south of France. In addition, all participants received gifts from the partners of the Elina Svitolina Foundation.

Viktoriia Kutuzova, Valeriy Kutuzov, Denys Pume, Andriy Bakunin, famous Ukrainian athletes, and the guest coach from Slovakia, Vladimir Platenik, conducted classes for children. The camp’s head coach is Alena Svetova, a professional of the highest level, the merited coach of Ukraine.

“I am grateful to everyone who supports our foundation and contributes to the development of Ukrainian sport. The image of Ukraine on the international sports scene in the future depends on how we train and educate young athletes today. For example, to win an Olympic medal in Tokyo, I entered the court when I was 4 years old. And my way was quite thorny. There was no available tennis infrastructure, necessary knowledge and favourable conditions. But I want the way of an athlete to be understandable and perspective for the younger generation. And I am glad that our team, with the help of special programs, gives Ukrainian children such an opportunity”, said Elina Svitolina, founder of the foundation.

“It is important for us to develop tennis in Ukraine and support young talented athletes. The best in their age category, 60 children have already participated in our foundation’s programs. “Using Elina’s knowledge, techniques and personal sports experience, we not only allow them to participate in the meet. But we also show them the right approach to the training process and its important components. As a result, we raise the bar and demonstrate a high level, thus giving them a huge boost for development and motivation for further work. Now the team of the foundation is working on new programs and projects. I am sure that soon we will be able to announce them to the general public”, said Anna Popovchenko, director of the foundation.

The Elina Svitolina Charitable Foundation partners are Top Five Management, Elite Tennis Club, Tennis Federation of Ukraine, EAFIT, Nike, Wilson, Morshynska, Grand Tennis of Ukraine, Jean Niche Concept.

The Elina Svitolina Foundation was founded in 2019. It provides comprehensive support to promising young athletes. In the same year, the foundation held the first training camp with the help of Elina Svitolina. In 2020, the team organised the second event in the coastal city of Odessa.
